That’s a question I’ve been asked a lot.
(Sorry for the lengthy post)
….
Why would I give up my spare time to do this, especially when it’s not for profit.
….
The simple answer?
Because of this little guy.
I went from working and having a set routine to becoming a first time stay at home mom. What the heck did I do with a baby all day?
I had him in December. I had an emergency c section. My recovery was rough. The days were cold and dark. And I just wanted to feel normal.
I was soon diagnosed with both Postpartum Depression and Postpartum Anxiety. I started seeing a specialized therapist and was on Zoloft.
My therapist suggested trying to find a village. Find a way to make other mom friends in the area. To help realize being a parent is tough but absolutely worth it.
I said “okay great but how do I do that?”
I found a baby story time at a library after legit googling “what to do with a baby” and a suggested activity was going to your local library. I then looked at the closest ones to us and found a program starting soon.
I went.
And it was just me and one other caregiver
We continued to go anyways. I felt welcomed at the library. The children’s library was so kind to both me and Gavin. I enjoyed having some sort of “routine.”
As the summer progressed, I realized that the low attendance may be due to people simply not knowing these programs are offered!
As I overcame PPD and PPA I started to think. What if other moms/caregivers were out there struggling too? What if they didn’t know of these activities to help them get out and feel “normal?”
I told my therapist my goal was to be able to help ONE person. If I could potentially help one person to begin their journey of overcoming the challenges of being a stay at home parent / caregiver, then it was worth it.
So here we are. The same week I made this page was also the same week I was finally discharged from therapy.
This page truly means a lot to me and I’m so glad I have such a large community I can help.
I love all the memories I get to make with my little. And now I’m finding even more things to do once he’s a bit bigger.
Xoxo

Great question. I don’t have an exact answer besides “it depends”
your best bet is to contact that library directly.
from my personal experience many libraries have been pretty open and welcoming! My little and I have gone to programs at Northampton, Lower Macungie, Parkland, Nazareth, Bethlehem, and Whitehall Twp.
typically if there is no registration required, it is open to anyone. Even programs with registration may accept patrons outside their district.
it never hurts to ask!
